I’m very proud to announce a new first for Solid Steel, we made No.1 in the iTunes Music Video podcast charts this week with DJ Cheeba‘s new mix after the previous best of Hexstatic‘s at No.3 a few weeks back.
In the 90’s the idea of an eclectic mix show with minimal presenting and lashings of spoken word was pretty unique thing, today it’s par for the course. I’m glad to say we’re still pushing the envelope but this time with extremely high quality video mixes – check out any one of them on our Vimeo channel.

The second track from the Pepe Deluxé album, ‘Queen of the Wave’, is up for your delectation. ‘The Storm’ redefines the word ‘EPIC’ with tribes of restless natives chanting ‘Listen, listen, God of Thunder!’ over a track so packed full of ideas it should be illegal.
Check for yourselves over at the official Pepe site and stay tuned for a further two exclusives.
Sorry to anyone heading down to the Marquise in Lyon tonight (Thursday). I won’t be there as there was a mix up with dates somewhere along the line. I will be there tomorrow though (Friday 8th)
Saw this earlier in issue 5 of LSD (London Street-Art Design) magazine and it made me chuckle, next to it is the original image it was copied from. Click for larger verrsions
For the hundredth post: the first in an occasional series, miscellaneous shots from around the studio…

My friends Sarah and Leigh at Factory Road sent some lovely custom 45 adapters down the other week. After years of buying up old stocks from US factories they’ve made their own, improved from existing versions and de-bossed with their logo. They also offer a custom service with your own name or wording on the dinks if you need something special or want some for promo. Contact Leigh at [email protected] if you want more info – they also make records, prints and T-shirts and are lovely people.
Unfortunately, due to some teething problems, I’ve had to change the links to my RSS feeds (if you don’t know what an RSS feed is read this). If anyone has subscribed over the last couple of days please update your settings to http://feeds.feedburner.com/djfood2 (for Diary entries) or http://feeds.feedburner.com/djfoodcomments2 (for comments on Diary entries). Thanks, normal service has now been resumed.
