I absolutely love these ads from 1981, they’ve been doing the rounds on the web for some time now, I think they originate from a Lego Flickr group but I can’t find the source. Anyway, before Lego Friends designated a pink and purple world for girls only, it was resolutely unisex, and hang the cheap brown background, it was all about the bricks.
“before Lego Friends designated a pink and purple world for girls only, it was resolutely unisex”
I would say that before Lego introduced the little lego people (1977 0r 79) it was unisex – my daughter got some Lego Friends today for her birthday, until the pink & purple lego they were ALL MEN, MEN, MEN. Lego Friends at least gives her females – but mostly animals and tree – houses. Lego bricks ARE unisex, but only if she’s into vehicles and construction.
Love the poster, love lego (still and I’m 42!)
I know, she’s adorable isn’t she?
love the first one “what it is is beautiful”… so true !
