I have a similar one Gareth – for something so big you’re best off getting it framed with clear perspex rather than glass, cheaper, lighter and less prone to breaking in a move.
I’ve got a bus shelter sized poster of the animals in red with the green fig leaves. It’s huge and can’t get it framed as it would cost a fortune in glass.
Any suggestions as to how to frame it please, it really is superb.
Got it off eBay about six years ago for £20!
Holy crap. Id love scans if theyre available. I listen to your mixes on solid steel all the time. Cant believe u own these. I used this album as a coffee table on top of two milk crates like 20 years ago.
I’ve been looking for these in print for some time. Can’t believe the’re not available anywhere. Great artwork. I have to admit to being more than a little jealous!
@Jim – yes, that was Paul’s stuff as well as all the bits he nicked from other authors, great magazine that.
I think the WTTP art is a bit bigger than it was printed, not much but I got it framed similar to the way it appeared in print.
Bizarre that the art was created actual size. The gatefold illustration needs to be at least 20 feet wide to gain maximum aesthetic impact! Giant bell end couture!
I have a copy of the ‘book’ ‘And suddenly there came a bang’ somewhere at my mums. With the tatty poster folded back up and replaced! Was that all Paul Morleys ramblings as I’ve read somewhere? Need to dig out and re-read actually as most if not the majority probably went over my head at the time. I was accomanying my mother who collected charity box takings from Northern chippies and sweet shops, when I chanced upon a copy in a newsagents… £1.99 was a major undertaking for a little lad. I probably had to beg mum for a loan!
I would gradly pay for high-res scans of the Welcome To The Pleasuredome album artwork if you manage to find them.
Hi Jim, yes these are the originals, that I own, and I am DJ Food (being that this is DJ Food.org)
If you get the reissued Pleasuredome CD you can see the back cover without fig leaves, I provided photos and scans for it from these. I had to take the frame apart to scan the back cover in as the glass reflected if photographed head on. If I find the scan I’ll upload it. See my other entry about going to the ZTT master tape archive http://www.djfood.org/one-november-monday
The LP that came out (the first LP I ever bought aged 9) had the back cover censored. This is the first time I have seen without fig leaves. Any chance of upping the back not at an angle? These are the originals then? That you own? And you are DJ food? I have some of your LPs too!
