Starting this week in 2000ad, the first in a new series by Brendan McCarthy and Al Ewing – The Zaucer of Zilk – the first episode is very intriguing and reads like Alice In Wonderland in rainy run down Britain. Brendan’s art is on great form too and other good news is that Henry Flint is back on the current Judge Dredd epic which is one of the best in years.
UPDATE: You can preview the first episode for free online at the CBR website now.
Finally got my Prog yesterday (the perils of an overseas subscription) and The Zaucer was definitely the highlight (despite having stiff competition from the ongoing Dredd saga). A great opening, and this should just get better and better (60 pages total); Ewing & McCarthy will go far! The rainy setting of the initial episode made me realise that more than a few of Brendan’s classics feature water heavily; Atlantis, Riders on the Storm, Freakwave… back to the Electrick Hoax. Probably nothing in it, but then he does do water extremely well. Anyway, really happy to see Brendan back in the Prog and very much on form.
